ENTERED ACTIVE SERVICE AS A DRAFTEE ON NOVEMBER 6, 1942 AT CAMP GRANT, ILLINOIS. SELECTED FOR THE AIR CORPS, COMPLETED BASIC TRAINING, AND QUALIFIED IN THE MILITARY OCCUPATIONAL SPECIALTY OF SPECIAL VEHICLE OPERATOR (932). DEPARTED THE CONTINENTAL U.S. ON MAY 26, 1943 BOUND FOR THE ASIATIC-PACIFIC THEATER OF OPERATIONS. ASSIGNED TO AND SERVED WITH THE 397TH AIR BASE SQUADRON AND PARTICIPATED IN THE ALEUTIAN ISLANDS CAMPAIGN. EARNED THE GOOD CONDUCT MEDAL, AMERICAN CAMPAIGN MEDAL, ASIATIC-PACIFIC CAMPAIGN MEDAL WITH BRONZE BATTLE STAR AND THE WWII VICTORY MEDAL. HONORABLY DISCHARGED AS A PRIVATE FIRST CLASS ON DECEMBER 10, 1945 AT THE SEPARATION CENTER, FORT MACARTHUR, CALIFORNIA.
