ENTERED ACTIVE SERVICE AS A DRAFTEE ON JUNE 7, 1945 AT FORT SHERIDAN, ILLINOIS. SELECTED FOR THE MILITARY POLICE DEPARTMENT, COMPLETED BASIC TRAINING, AND QUALIFIED IN THE MILITARY OCCUPATIONAL SPECIALTY OF MILITARY POLICEMAN (677). DEPARTED THE CONTINENTAL U.S. ON NOVEMBER 10, 1945 BOUND FOR THE EUROPEAN THEATER OF OPERATIONS. ASSIGNED TO AND SERVED WITH COMPANY B, 793RD MILITARY POLICE BATTALION ENGAGED IN THE OCCUPATION OF GERMANY. HONORABLY DISCHARGED AS A PRIVATE FIRST CLASS ON NOVEMBER 20, 1946 AT THE SEPARATION CENTER, FORT DIX, NEW JERSEY. EARNED THE WWII VICTORY MEDAL AND THE ARMY OF OCCUPATION MEDAL (GERMANY).
