ENTERED ACTIVE SERVICE AS A DRAFTEE ON FEBRUARY 7, 1945 AT CHICAGO, ILLINOIS. SELECTED FOR THE ARMY AIR FORCE, COMPLETED BASIC TRAINING AND QUALIFIED IN THE MILITARY OCCUPATIONAL SPECIALTY OF HEAVY TRUCK DRIVER (931). DEPARTED THE CONTINENTAL U.S. ON DECEMBER 28, 1945 BOUND FOR THE EUROPEAN THEATER OF OPERATIONS. ASSIGNED TO AND SERVED WITH IX APSC HEADQUARTERS AND HEADQUARTERS SQUADRON ENGAGED IN THE OCCUPATION OF GERMANY. HONORABLY DISCHARGED AS A PRIVATE FIRST CLASS ON SEPTEMBER 27, 1946 AT THE SEPARATION CENTER, FORT SHERIDAN, ILLINOIS. EARNED THE GOOD CONDUCT MEDAL, WWII VICTORY MEDAL, AND THE ARMY OF OCCUPATION MEDAL (GERMANY).
