ENTERED ACTIVE DUTY AS A DRAFTEE ON SEPTEMBER 2, 1942 AT CHICAGO ILLINOIS. SELECTED FOR THE CAVALRY, COMPLETED BASIC TRAINING, AND QUALIFIED AS A DRIVER. STATIONED STATESIDE WITH HEADQUARTERS DETACHMENT, 1852ND SERVICE COMMAND UNIT AT FORT BLISS, TEXAS. AT AGE 44, HONORABLY DISCHARGED AS A PRIVATE PER 3RD ENDORSEMENT TO 1ST CAVALRY DIVISION LETTER (OF FEBRUARY 15TH) ON FEBRUARY 22, 1943, SAME STATION. EARNED THE WWII VICTORY MEDAL BY VIRTUE OF HIS BRIEF SERVICE OF 5 MONTHS, 20 DAYS.
