ENTERED ACTIVE SERVICE AS A DRAFTEE ON OCTOBER 1, 1946 AT CHICAGO, ILLINOIS. SELECTED FOR THE TRANSPORTATION CORPS BECAUSE OF HIS CIVILIAN JOB AS A LOCOMOTIVE ENGINEER (MILITARY OCCUPATIONAL SPECIALTY 110). AFTER COMPLETING BASIC TRAINING, DEPARTED THE CONTINENTAL U.S. ON DECEMBER 12, 1946 BOUND FOR THE ASIATIC-PACIFIC THEATER OF OPERATIONS. SERVED WITH THE 605TH ARMY MARINE SHIP REPAIR COMPANY. HONORABLY DISCHARGED AS A PRIVATE ON JUNE 4, 1947 AT THE SEPARATION CENTER, CAMP STONEMAN, CALIFORNIA. EARNED THE WWII VICTORY MEDAL.
