DEPARTED THE CONTINENTAL U.S. ON JULY 15, 1944 BOUND FOR THE EUROPEAN THEATER OF OPERATIONS. ASSIGNED TO AND FOUGHT WITH COMPANY L, 110TH INFANTRY REGIMENT, 28TH ‘KEYSTONE’ INFANTRY DIVISION, IN THE NORTHERN FRANCE, RHINELAND AND CENTRAL EUROPE CAMPAIGNS. WOUNDED BY ENEMY ACTION IN GERMANY. EARNED THE PURPLE HEART MEDAL, COMBAT INFANTRYMAN BADGE, GOOD CONDUCT MEDAL, AMERICAN CAMPAIGN MEDAL, EUROPEAN-AFRICAN-MIDDLE EASTERN CAMPAIGN MEDAL WITH 3 BRONZE BATTLE STARS AND THE WWII VICTORY MEDAL. HONORABLY DISCHARGED AS A PRIVATE FIRST CLASS ON OCTOBER 2, 1945 AT THE SEPARATION CENTER, CAMP GRANT, ILLINOIS.
