ENTERED ACTIVE SERVICE AS A DRAFTEE AND APPRENTICE SEAMAN ON NOVEMBER 2, 1944. COMPLETED BOOT CAMP AT NAVAL TRAINING CENTER, GREAT LAKES, ILLINOIS, AND FURTHER TRAINING AT AMPHIBIOUS TRAINING BASE, CAMP BRADFORD, NAVAL OPERATING BASE, NORFOLK, VIRGINIA. LATER ASSIGNED TO U.S. NAVAL HOSPITAL, PORTSMOUTH, VIRGINIA, AND U.S. NAVAL AMPHIBIOUS BASE, LITTLE CREEK, VIRGINIA. HONORABLY DISCHARGED AS A SEAMAN SECOND CLASS ON MARCH 19, 1946 AT THE NAVAL PERSONNEL SEPARATION CENTER, SHELTON, VIRGINIA. EARNED THE AMERICAN CAMPAIGN MEDAL AND THE WWII VICTORY MEDAL.
