ENTERED ACTIVE SERVICE AS A DRAFTEE ON JUNE 7, 1945 AT CHICAGO, ILLINOIS. SELECTED FOR THE ARMY AIR FORCES, COMPLETED BASIC TRAINING, AND QUALIFIED IN THE MILITARY OCCUPATIONAL SPECIALTY OF MILITARY POLICEMAN (677). DEPARTED THE CONTINENTAL U.S. ON NOVEMBER 16, 1945 BOUND FOR THE EUROPEAN THEATER OF OPERATIONS. ASSIGNED TO AND SERVED WITH THE 1242ND ARMY AIR FORCES BASE UNIT ENGAGED IN THE OCCUPATION OF GERMANY. HONORABLY DISCHARGED AS A PRIVATE FIRST CLASS ON DECEMBER 30, 1946 AT THE SEPARATION CENTER, FORT SHERIDAN, ILLINOIS. EARNED THE AMERICAN CAMPAIGN MEDAL, WWII VICTORY MEDAL, AND THE ARMY OF OCCUPATION MEDAL (GERMANY).
