ENTERED ACTIVE SERVICE AS A DRAFTEE ON NOVEMBER 26, 1943 AT CHICAGO, ILLINOIS. SELECTED FOR THE AIR CORPS, COMPLETED BASIC TRAINING AND SERVED STATESIDE DURING TOUR OF DUTY. ASSIGNED TO 380TH BOMB SQUADRON, 485TH BOMB GROUP (HEAVY) WHEN IT RETURNED TO THE CONTINENTAL U.S. FROM THE EUROPEAN THEATER OF OPERATIONS IN MAY OF 1945. ATTENDED THE RADIO OPERATORS SERVICE SCHOOL AT SCOTT FIELD AND SERVED AS SUCH WITH THE UNIT AT CLOVIS ARMY AIR FIELD, NEW MEXICO, FLYING BOEING B-29 SUPER FORTRESS AIRCRAFT UNTIL SEPARATION FROM THE SERVICE. RECEIVED GOOD CONDUCT MEDAL, AMERICAN CAMPAIGN MEDAL, AND WWII VICTORY MEDAL. HONORABLY DISCHARGED AS A CORPORAL ON APRIL 10, 1946 AT THE SEPARATION CENTER, FORT LEAVENWORTH, KANSAS.
