ENTERED ACTIVE SERVICE AS A DRAFTEE ON JANUARY 3, 1946 AT CHICAGO, ILLINOIS. SELECTED FOR THE CAVALRY, COMPLETED BASIC TRAINING AND QUALIFIED IN THE MILITARY OCCUPATIONAL SPECIALTY OF RIFLEMAN (745). DEPARTED THE CONTINENTAL U.S. ON APRIL 9, 1946 BOUND FOR THE EUROPEAN THEATER OF OPERATIONS. ASSIGNED TO AND SERVED WITH THE LIGHT TANK TROOP, 4TH CONSTABULARY REGIMENT, ENGAGED IN THE OCCUPATION OF GERMANY. HONORABLY DISCHARGED WITH A CERTIFICATE OF DISABILITY AS A PRIVATE FIRST CLASS ON OCTOBER 17, 1947 AT PERCY JONES GENERAL HOSPITAL, FORT CUSTER, MICHIGAN. RECEIVED AMERICAN CAMPAIGN MEDAL AND ARMY OF OCCUPATION MEDAL (GERMANY).
