ENTERED ACTIVE SERVICE AS A DRAFTEE ON APRIL 26, 1944 AT FORT SHERIDAN, ILLINOIS. COMPLETED BASIC TRAINING AND QUALIFIED IN THE MILITARY OCCUPATIONAL SPECIALTY OF CLERK TYPIST (405). DEPARTED THE CONTINENTAL U.S. ON APRIL 8, 1945 BOUND FOR THE PACIFIC THEATER OF OPERATIONS. ASSIGNED TO AND FOUGHT WITH THE 97TH FIELD ARTILLERY BATTALION IN THE SOUTHERN PHILIPPINES CAMPAIGN. EARNED THE GOOD CONDUCT MEDAL, AMERICAN CAMPAIGN MEDAL, ASIATIC-PACIFIC CAMPAIGN MEDAL WITH BRONZE BATTLE STAR, WWII VICTORY MEDAL AND THE PHILIPPINE LIBERATION MEDAL. HONORABLY DISCHARGED AS A TECHNICIAN 5TH GRADE ON MAY 14 1946 AT THE SEPARATION CENTER, JEFFERSON BARRACKS, MISSOURI.
