Activity During WWII

DECORATED WWII VETERAN. FOUGHT IN THE NORMANDY INVASION AND THE BATTLE OF THE BULGE. SAW ACTION WITH THE 23RD INFANTRY REGIMENT. ON HIS 22ND BIRTHDAY, APRIL 7, 1945, A GERMAN ARTILLERY SHATTERED HIS RIGHT LEG NEAR THE CZECHOSLOVAKIA BORDER, JUST A MONTH BEFORE GERMANY FELL. BY LATE 1945, HE WAS BEING TREATED IN AN ARMY HOSPITAL IN VALLEY FORGE, PENNSYLVANIA. HIS LEG WAS LATER AMPUTATED AT WASHINGTON'S WALTER REED GENERAL HOSPITAL IN DECEMBER 1948. AMONG HIS AWARDS IS THE PURPLE HEART.
