ENTERED ACTIVE SERVICE AS A DRAFTEE ON JANUARY 20, 1943 AT INDIANAPOLIS, INDIANA. SELECTED FOR THE ORDNANCE CORPS, COMPLETED BASIC TRAINING AND QUALIFIED IN THE MILITARY OCCUPATIONAL SPECIALTY OF COMBINATION WELDER (256). DEPARTED THE CONTINENTAL U.S. ON MARCH 6, 1945 BOUND FOR THE PACIFIC THEATER OF OPERATIONS. ASSIGNED TO AND SERVED WITH THE 523RD ORDNANCE HEAVY MAINTENANCE COMPANY IN THE LUZON CAMPAIGN. EARNED THE GOOD CONDUCT MEDAL, MERITORIOUS UNIT COMMENDATION, AMERICAN CAMPAIGN MEDAL, ASIATIC-PACIFIC CAMPAIGN MEDAL WITH BRONZE BATTLE STAR, WWII VICTORY MEDAL AND THE PHILIPPINE LIBERATION MEDAL WITH BRONZE BATTLE STAR. HONORABLY DISCHARGED AS A TECHNICIAN 4TH GRADE ON FEBRUARY 26, 1946 AT THE SEPARATION CENTER, CAMP ATTERBURY, INDIANA.
