STAFF SERGEANT; U.S. Army, 31st Infantry Regiment 'Polar Bears'. USAFFE (U.S. armed Forces Far East), Philippine division, Company M. Fought on Corregidor until it fell then Luzon. He was taken captive by the Japanese on May 6, 1942. He was transferred between 4 camps on Luzon then transported by 'Hell Ship' to Japanese POW camp in Mukaishima on September 13, 1944. He was released when the U.S. forces arrived on September 13, 1945.
