ENLISTED AND ENTERED ACTIVE SERVICE ON MARCH 3, 1945. COMPLETED BOOT CAMP AND ATTENDED COURSES AT THE NAVAL AIR TECHNICAL TRAINING CENTER, NORMAN, OKLAHOMA. SERVED ABOARD THE CLEVELAND CLASS, LIGHT CRUISER USS OKLAHOMA CITY; THE LANDING SHIP TANK USS LST 685, THE INTERNAL-COMBUSTION-ENGINE REPAIR SHIP USS HOOPER ISLAND ARG-17; AND THE BAYFIELD CLASS, ATTACK TRANSPORT USS CAVALIER APA-37. EARNED THE AMERICAN CAMPAIGN MEDAL, ASIATIC-PACIFIC CAMPAIGN MEDAL, AND THE WWII VICTORY MEDAL. HONORABLY DISCHARGED UPON COMPLETING HIS ENLISTMENT AS A SEAMAN FIRST CLASS ON JANUARY 22, 1948 AT THE NAVAL RECEIVING STATION, NAVAL STATION, SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA.
