ENTERED ACTIVE SERVICE AS A DRAFTEE ON APRIL 14, 1941 AT FORT SHERIDAN, ILLINOIS. SELECTED FOR THE MILITARY POLICE, COMPLETED BASIC TRAINING, AND QUALIFIED IN THE MILITARY OCCUPATIONAL SPECIALTY OF MILITARY POLICEMAN (677). DEPARTED THE CONTINENTAL U.S. ON JUNE 13, 1943 BOUND FOR THE EUROPEAN THEATER OF OPERATIONS AND RETURNED ON SEPTEMBER 5TH OF THAT YEAR. ASSIGNED TO AND SERVED WITH COMPANY A, 770TH MILITARY POLICE BATTALION, FOR THE DURATION. EARNED THE GOOD CONDUCT MEDAL, AMERICAN DEFENSE SERVICE MEDAL, AMERICAN CAMPAIGN MEDAL, EUROPEAN-AFRICAN-MIDDLE EASTERN CAMPAIGN MEDAL AND THE WWII VICTORY MEDAL. HONORABLY DISCHARGED AS A PRIVATE FIRST CLASS ON DECEMBER 17, 1945 AT THE SEPARATION CENTER, FORT SAM HUSTON, TEXAS.
