ENLISTED IN THE AIR CORPS AND ENTERED ACTIVE SERVICE ON SEPTEMBER 28, 1940 AT EAST SAINT LOUIS, ILLINOIS. AFTER RISING TO THE RANK OF STAFF SERGEANT, VOLUNTEERED FOR AND ACCEPTED IN THE AVIATION CADET TRAINING PROGRAM. ATTENDED AND GRADUATED FROM THE MAINTENANCE ENGINEERING SCHOOL, ARMY AIR FORCES TECHNICAL TRAINING CENTER, YALE UNIVERSITY, NEW HAVEN, CONNECTICUT. HONORABLY DISCHARGED FROM THE 999TH TECHNICAL TRAINING SCHOOL AS AN AVIATION CADET ON AUGUST 22, 1943 TO ACCEPT A COMMISSION AS A SECOND LIEUTENANT THE NEXT DAY. AS OF THIS POINT IN HIS WWII ACTIVITIES, EARNED THE AMERICAN DEFENSE SERVICE MEDAL AND THE AMERICAN CAMPAIGN MEAL. FURTHER WWII ACTIVITIES UNDOCUMENTED.
