ENTERED ACTIVE SERVICE AS A DRAFTEE ON JUNE 17, 1943 AT FORT CUSTER, MICHIGAN. SELECTED FOR THE CORPS OF ENGINEERS, COMPLETED BASIC TRAINING AND QUALIFIED IN THE MILITARY OCCUPATIONAL SPECIALTY OF LIGHT TRUCK DRIVER, (345). DEPARTED THE CONTINENTAL U.S. ON NOVEMBER 10, 1944 BOUND FOR THE EUROPEAN THEATER OF OPERATIONS. ASSIGNED TO AND SERVED WITH COMPANY B, 1ST BATTALION, 393RD ENGINEER SPECIAL SERVICE REGIMENT. EARNED THE GOOD CONDUCT MEDAL, AMERICAN CAMPAIGN MEDAL, EUROPEAN-AFRICAN-MIDDLE EASTERN CAMPAIGN MEDAL, AND THE WWII VICTORY MEDAL. HONORABLY DISCHARGED AS A TECHNICIAN FIFTH GRADE ON OCTOBER 26, 1945 AT THE SEPARATION CENTER, CAMP GRANT, ILLINOIS.
