ENTERED ACTIVE SERVICE ON APRIL 22, 1942.COMPLETED BASIC TRAINING AND ATTENDED THE QUARTERMASTER MECHANIC SERVICE SCHOOL AND THE MAINTENANCE OF ELECTRIC GENERATORS SERVICE SCHOOL. DEPARTED THE CONTINENTAL U.S. ON AUGUST 20, 1943 BOUND FOR THE EUROPEAN THEATER OF OPERATIONS. ASSIGNED TO AND SERVED WITH THE 486TH ENGINEER (HEAVY SHOP) COMPANY. RETURNED TO THE STATES ON DECEMBER 20, 1943 FOR MEDICAL TREATMENT IN POOR HEALTH. HONORABLY DISCHARGED AS A TECHNICIAN FOURTH GRADE ON MAY 11, 1944 AT BILLINGS GENERAL HOSPITAL, FORT BENJAMIN HARRISON, INDIANA. EARNED THE AMERICAN CAMPAIGN MEDAL, EUROPEAN-AFRICAN-MIDDLE EASTERN CAMPAIGN MEDAL, AND THE WWII VICTORY MEDAL.
