ENLISTED IN THE WOMEN'S ARMY CORPS AND SERVED FROM MARCH 31, 1945, TO JUNE 13, 1946, AS A SURGICAL TECHNICIAN 5TH GRADE, PROVIDING CARE TO WOUNDED RETURNING FROM THE FRONT LINES. SHE RECEIVED BASIC TRAINING IN FORT OGLETHORPE, GEORGIA AND WAS STATIONED AT KENNEDY GENERAL ARMY HOSPITAL IN MEMPHIS, TENNESSEE AND OLIVER GENERAL HOSPITAL IN AUGUSTA, GEORGIA. SHE RECEIVED THE AMERICAN CAMPAIGN MEDAL, THE WWII VICTORY MEDAL AND THE ARMY GOOD CONDUCT MEDAL.
