Activity During WWII

Enlisted in the United States Army Air Corps on October 29, 1942 as an Aviation Cadet. He was subsequently commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant on January 7, 1944. After completion of flight training, he was assigned to the 7th Bombardment Squadron (H), 34th Bombardment Group (H), 8th Air Force, USAAF Station 156, Mendlesham, Suffolk, United Kingdom in support of operations in the European Theater of Operations. He served as B-17 pilot from July 1944 to March 1945. He is credited with 35 Combat Missions over Occupied Europe (Holland, France, Belgium, and Germany). Participated in the air offensive in the bombardment of strategic targets to include marshalling yards, oil centers, factories and airfields and in support of ground forces during the Battle of the Bulge. He was awarded the Air medal with five Oak Leaf Clusters and Good Conduct Medal.
