ENTERED ACTIVE SERVICE AS A DRAFTEE ON JANUARY 2, 1943 AT FORT MACARTHUR, CALIFORNIA. SELECTED FOR THE AIR CORPS, COMPLETED BASIC TRAINING AND QUALIFIED IN THE MILITARY OCCUPATIONAL SPECIALTY OF CLERK TYPIST (405). ATTEND 68 WEEKS OF SERVICE SCHOOLS INCLUDING RADAR, RADIO, ARMORER, DECONTAMINATION AND CLERK TYPIST. ASSIGNED TO AND SERVED WITH THE 398TH FIGHTER SQUADRON, 396TH FIGHTER GROUP ENGAGED IN AIR DEFENSE OF THE WEST COAST. EARNED THE GOOD CONDUCT MEDAL, AMERICAN CAMPAIGN MEDAL AND WWII VICTORY MEDAL. HONORABLY DISCHARGED AS A SERGEANT ON FEBRUARY 19, 1946 AT THE SEPARATION CENTER, CAMP GRANT, ILLINOIS.
