ENLISTED IN THE REGULAR INFANTRY AND ENTERED ACTIVE SERVICE ON DECEMBER 7, 1945 AT CAMP ROBINSON, ARKANSAS. COMPLETED BASIC TRAINING AND QUALIFIED IN THE MILITARY OCCUPATIONAL SPECIALTY OF LIGHT TRUCK DRIVER (345). DEPARTED THE CONTINENTAL U.S. ON FEBRUARY 20, 1946 BOUND FOR THE EUROPEAN THEATER OF OPERATIONS. ASSIGNED TO AND SERVED WITH TROOP A, 8TH CONSTABULARY SQUADRON, 11TH CONSTABULARY REGIMENT ENGAGED IN THE OCCUPATION OF GERMANY. HONORABLY DISCHARGED AS A PRIVATE FIRST CLASS ON JUNE 9, 1947 AT THE SEPARATION BRANCH, CAMP KILMER, NEW JERSEY. EARNED THE AMERICAN CAMPAIGN MEDAL AND THE ARMY OF OCCUPATION MEDAL (GERMANY).
