ENTERED ACTIVE SERVICE ON JULY 29, 1942, COMPLETED BOOT CAMP AT NAVAL TRAINING CENTER, GREAT LAKES, ILLINOIS, AND FURTHER TRAINING AT NAVAL TRAINING CENTER, GULFPORT, MISSISSIPPI. ASSIGNED TO OR SERVED ABOARD, IN TURN: ARMED GUARD CENTER, NEW ORLEANS, LOUISIANA; NAVAL TRAINING CENTER, MIAMI, FLORIDA; AND THE SUBMARINE CHASER USS PC 1569. SAW ACTION IN BOTH THE EUROPEAN AND PACIFIC THEATERS OF OPERATIONS. HONORABLY DISCHARGED AS A COXSWAIN ON JANUARY 4, 1946 AT THE SEPARATION CENTER, GREAT LAKES, ILLINOIS. EARNED THE AMERICAN CAMPAIGN MEDAL, EUROPEAN-AFRICAN-MIDDLE EASTERN CAMPAIGN MEDAL, ASIATIC-PACIFIC CAMPAIGN MEDAL AND THE WWII VICTORY MEDAL.
