ENTERED ACTIVE SERVICE AS A DRAFTEE ON JUNE 7, 1945 AT CHICAGO, ILLINOIS. SELECTED FOR THE MEDICAL DEPARTMENT, COMPLETED BASIC TRAINING AND QUALIFIED IN THE MILITARY OCCUPATIONAL SPECIALTY OF SURGICAL TECHNICIAN (861). DEPARTED THE CONTINENTAL U.S. ON NOVEMBER 17, 1945 BOUND FOR THE EUROPEAN THEATER OF OPERATIONS. ASSIGNED TO AND SERVED WITH THE MEDICAL DETACHMENT, 5TH INFANTRY DIVISION ENGAGED IN THE OCCUPATION OF GERMANY. HONORABLY DISCHARGED AS A STAFF SERGEANT ON NOVEMBER 28, 1946 AT THE SEPARATION CENTER, FORT DIX, NEW JERSEY. EARNED THE WWII VICTORY MEDAL AND THE ARMY OF OCCUPATION MEDAL (GERMANY).
