COMPLETED BASIC TRAINING, ATTENDED COOK SERVICE SCHOOL AT CAMP MCCOY, WISCONSIN, AND AWARDED THAT MILITARY OCCUPATIONAL SPECIALTY (060). DEPARTED THE CONTINENTAL U.S. ON DECEMBER 1, 1943 BOUND FOR THE PACIFIC THEATER OF OPERATIONS. ASSIGNED TO AND SERVED WITH 227TH STATION HOSPITAL, 24TH CORPS, AND PARTICIPATED IN THE WESTERN PACIFIC AND RYUKYUS CAMPAIGNS. EARNED THE GOOD CONDUCT MEDAL, AMERICAN CAMPAIGN MEDAL, ASIATIC-PACIFIC CAMPAIGN MEDAL WITH 2 BRONZE BATTLE STARS, AND THE WWII VICTORY MEDAL. HONORABLY DISCHARGED AS A TECHNICIAN FOURTH GRADE ON JANUARY 7, 1946 AT THE SEPARATION CENTER, JEFFERSON BARRACKS, MISSOURI.
