ATTENDED 8 WEEK DIESEL SCHOOL AT NAVAL TRAINING STATION, NAVY PIER, ILLINOIS AND ADDITIONAL TRAINING AT AMPHIBIOUS TRAINING BASE, NAVY YARD, PORTSMOUTH, VIRGINIA, BEFORE BEING ASSIGNED TO AND SERVING ABOARD THE LANDING SHIP TANK USS LST 336 IN THE NORTH AFRICAN AND EUROPEAN THEATERS OF OPERATIONS.
