ENTERED ACTIVE SERVICE ON MAY 30, 1944. COMPLETED BOOT CAMP AT NAVAL TRAINING CENTER, GREAT LAKES, ILLINOIS, AND ADVANCED TRAINING AT NAVAL AMPHIBIOUS TRAINING BASE, FORT PIERCE, FLORIDA. ASSIGNED TO AND SERVED ABOARD THE HIGH SPEED TRANSPORT, CHARLES LAWRENCE CLASS, USS BULL APD-78 ENGAGED IN VARIOUS CAMPAIGNS IN THE PACIFIC THEATER OF OPERATIONS. HONORABLY DISCHARGED AS A MOTOR MACHINIST’S MATE SECOND CLASS ON JANUARY 26, 1946 AT THE NAVAL PERSONNEL SEPARATION CENTER, GREAT LAKES, ILLINOIS. EARNED THE AMERICAN CAMPAIGN MEDAL, ASIATIC-PACIFIC CAMPAIGN MEDAL WITH MULTIPLE BRONZE BATTLE STARS, WWII VICTORY MEDAL, AND THE PHILIPPINE LIBERATION MEDAL WITH BRONZE BATTLE STAR.
