ENTERED ACTIVE SERVICE AS A DRAFTEE AND TRAINED BOOKKEEPER ON SEPTEMBER 21, 1942 AT TERRE HAUTE, INDIANA. COMPLETED BASIC TRAINING AND QUALIFIED IN THE MILITARY OCCUPATIONAL SPECIALTY OF STENOGRAPHER (MOS 213). ASSIGNED TO AND SERVED WITH HEADQUARTERS COMPANY, PROVISIONAL HEADQUARTERS BATTALION, ENGINEER UNIT TRAINING CENTER, STATESIDE. VOLUNTEERED FOR AND GRADUATED THE STUDENT OFFICERS COURSE #30. HONORABLY DISCHARGED AS A TECHNICAL SERGEANT ON OCTOBER 15, 1943 TO ACCEPT A COMMISSION AS A WARRANT OFFICER. ENTERED ACTIVE DUTY THE NEXT DAY, ATTENDED THE ADJUTANT GENERAL SCHOOL, AND DEPARTED THE CONTINENTAL U.S ON JUNE 5, 1945 BOUND FOR THE PACIFIC THEATER OF OPERATIONS. SERVED THERE AS AN ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT (2200) AND LATER ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICER (2120) WITH HEADQUARTERS, OKINAWA BASE COMMAND. HONORABLY RELEASED FROM ACTIVE DUTY AS A WARRANT OFFICER (JUNIOR GRADE) ON MAY 15, 1946 AT THE SEPARATION CENTER, CAMP ATTERBURY, INDIANA. EARNED THE AMERICAN CAMPAIGN MEDAL, ASIATIC-PACIFIC CAMPAIGN MEDAL, AND THE WWII VICTORY MEDAL.
