273rd Battalion, 69th Division, 2nd Battery, Company E. I was with the 1st Army. We relieved the 393rd Regiment of the 99th Infantry on the Siegfried line. Tours in Oberhausen, Blumenthal, Haan, Munden, Trebsen and Leipzig. Combat Infantryman Badge, Service Medal with three Bronze Service Stars, WWII Victory Medal and Bronze Star Medal. Was also with Major Fred Craig's patrol when we met the Russians at the Elbe River, on April 25.
