ENLISTED FOR 2 YEARS AS AN APPRENTICE SEAMAN AND ENTERED ACTIVE SERVICE ON JANUARY 18, 1944 AT CHICAGO, ILLINOIS. COMPLETED BOOT CAMP AT NAVAL TRAINING STATION, FARRAGUT, IDAHO. STATIONED AT OR SERVED ABOARD, IN TURN, RECEIVING STATION, PUGET SOUND NAVY YARD, BREMERTON, WASHINGTON; THE BATTLESHIP USS SOUTH DAKOTA BB-57 (ENGAGED AGAINST THE ENEMY IN THE PACIFIC THEATER OF OPERATIONS); RECEIVING STATION, PUGET SOUND NAVY YARD, BREMERTON, WASHINGTON; AND U.S. NAVAL CONVALESCENCE HOSPITAL, SUN VALLEY, IDAHO. HONORABLY DISCHARGED AS A FIREMAN SECOND CLASS ON FEBRUARY 26, 1945 AT LAST STATION. EARNED THE AMERICAN CAMPAIGN MEDAL, ASIATIC-PACIFIC CAMPAIGN MEDAL WITH UNKNOWN NUMBER OF BRONZE BATTLE STARS, AND THE WWII VICTORY MEDAL.
