ENTERED ACTIVE SERVICE ON AUGUST 19, 1944. COMPLETED BOOT CAMP AT NAVAL TRAINING CENTER, GREAT LAKES, ILLINOIS. STATIONED NEXT AT NAVAL AIR TECHNICAL TRAINING CENTER, JACKSONVILLE, FLORIDA. THEN ASSIGNED TO AND SERVED ABOARD THE HEAVY HULL REPAIR SHIP USS JASON ARH-1 ENGAGED IN OPERATIONS IN THE PACIFIC THEATER. EARNED THE AMERICAN CAMPAIGN MEDAL, ASIATIC-PACIFIC CAMPAIGN MEDAL, WWII VICTORY MEDAL, AND THE PHILIPPINE LIBERATION MEDAL. HONORABLY DISCHARGED AS A SEAMAN FIRST CLASS ON JULY 1, 1946 AT THE NAVAL PERSONNEL SEPARATION CENTER, GREAT LAKES, ILLINOIS.
