ENLISTED IN THE AIR CORPS ON OCTOBER 29, 1942 AT HOUSTON, TEXAS. COMPLETED INITIAL TRAINING AND QUALIFIED IN THE MILITARY OCCUPATIONAL SPECIALTY OF DUTY SOLDIER II (599). DEPARTED THE CONTINENTAL U.S. ON JANUARY 16, 1944 BOUND FOR THE CHINA-INDIA-BURMA THEATER OF OPERATIONS. ASSIGNED TO AND SERVED WITH THE 1346TH ARMY AIR FORCES BASE UNIT (INDIA-CHINA DIVISION, AIR TRANSPORT COMMAND) TEZGAON, INDIA, ENGAGED IN THE INDIA-BURMA AND CENTRAL BURMA CAMPAIGNS. EARNED THE DISTINGUISHED UNIT CITATION, GOOD CONDUCT MEDAL, AMERICAN CAMPAIGN MEDAL, ASIATIC-PACIFIC CAMPAIGN MEDAL WITH 2 BRONZE BATTLE STARS, AND THE WWII VICTORY MEDAL. HONORABLY DISCHARGED AS A PRIVATE FIRST CLASS ON NOVEMBER 14, 1945 AT THE SEPARATION CENTER, JEFFERSON BARRACKS, MISSOURI.
