ENTERED ACTIVE SERVICE AS A DRAFTEE ON JUNE 22, 1945 AT CHICAGO, ILLINOIS. SELECTED FOR THE ARMY AIR FORCES, COMPLETED BASIC TRAINING, AND QUALIFIED IN THE MILITARY OCCUPATIONAL SPECIALTY OF GENERAL CLERK (055). DEPARTED THE CONTINENTAL U.S. ON NOVEMBER 10, 1945 BOUND FOR THE EUROPEAN THEATER OF OPERATIONS. ASSIGNED TO AND SERVED WITH THE 5TH ARMY AIRWAYS COMMUTATION SYSTEM, 89TH BASE UNIT, ENGAGED IN THE OCCUPATION OF GERMANY. HONORABLY DISCHARGED AS A CORPORAL ON JULY 6, 1946 AT THE SEPARATION CENTER, CAMP MCCOY, WISCONSIN. EARNED THE WWII VICTORY MEDAL AND THE ARMY OF OCCUPATION MEDAL (GERMANY) FOR HIS SERVICE DURING THE PERIOD OF ELIGIBILITY.
