Activity During WWII

Served 42 months (19 months overseas). Flew 75 bombing missions from England and France as a radio operator, gunner in a B-26 Martin Marauder. Awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Air Medal with 13 Oak Leaf Clusters. After WWII, joined the Rockwood unit of the Tennessee National Guard and in 1949 graduated from Infantry School at Fort Benning, Georgia. In 1950, was recalled to active duty and served in Korea. Received the Combat Infantryman Badge and the Korean Service Medal.
