Activity During WWII

28TH INFANTRY REGIMENT, 8TH INFANTRY DIVISION, Company L. On July 12, 1944, the 3rd Battalion (which included Company L) having replaced the 1st in the line, had advanced to a point south of Vesly, France, when their leading elements ran into sniper and heavy fire from 88’s. He was wounded, and died two days later. He was leading his men in an attack; during which in trying to relieve pressure on them, he repeatedly exposed himself to enemy fire. He was AWARDED THE PURPLE HEART and is Buried in Normandy American Military Cemetery, France.
