ENTERED ACTIVE SERVICE AS A DRAFTEE ON NOVEMBER 17, 1943 AT CHICAGO, ILLINOIS. SELECTED FOR THE INFANTRY, COMPLETED BASIC TRAINING, AND QUALIFIED IN THE MILITARY OCCUPATIONAL SPECIALTY OF LIGHT ARTILLERY CANNONEER. ASSIGNED TO AND SERVED STATESIDE WITH ANTI-TANK COMPANY, 300TH INFANTRY REGIMENT, AT FORT JACKSON, SOUTH CAROLINA. HONORABLY DISCHARGED AS A PRIVATE ON JANUARY 17, 1945 AT THE SEPARATION CENTER, FORT SHERIDAN, ILLINOIS. EARNED THE AMERICA CAMPAIGN MEDAL AND THE WWII VICTORY MEDAL.
