ENTERED ACTIVE SERVICE AS A DRAFTEE ON DECEMBER 22, 1944 AT FORT SHERIDAN, ILLINOIS. SELECTED FOR THE COAST ARTILLERY CORPS, COMPLETED BASIC TRAINING, AND QUALIFIED IN THE MILITARY OCCUPATIONAL SPECIALTY OF RIFLEMAN (745). DEPARTED THE CONTINENTAL U.S. ON AUGUST 29, 1945 BOUND FOR LEYTE, PHILIPPINE ISLANDS. ASSIGNED TO AND SERVED WITH BATTERY D, 925TH ANTI-AIRCRAFT AUTOMATIC WEAPONS BATTALION AT BASE K, SAME LOCATION. HONORABLY DISCHARGED AS A PRIVATE FIRST CLASS TO ENLIST IN THE REGULAR ARMY ON OCTOBER 29TH, 1945 AT BASE K. AFTER RETRAINING STATESIDE AS A RADIO REPAIRMAN IN THE SIGNAL CORPS, RE-DEPLOYED TO THE EUROPEAN THEATER OF OPERATIONS AND ASSIGNED TO THE 3112TH SIGNAL SERVICE BATTALION ENGAGED IN THE OCCUPATION OF GERMANY. HONORABLY DISCHARGED AS A TECHNICIAN FIFTH GRADE ON OCTOBER 31, 1946 AT THE SEPARATION CENTER FORT DIX, NEW JERSEY. EARNED THE AMERICAN CAMPAIGN MEDAL, ASIATIC-PACIFIC CAMPAIGN MEDAL, WWII VICTORY MEDAL, AND THE ARMY OF OCCUPATION (GERMANY) MEDAL.
