ENTERED ACTIVE SERVICE AS A DRAFTEE ON MARCH 1, 1946 AT CHICAGO, ILLINOIS. COMPLETED BASIC TRAINING AND QUALIFIED IN THE MILITARY OCCUPATIONAL SPECIALTY OF MAIL CLERK. DEPARTED THE CONTINENTAL U.S. ON AUGUST 25, 1945 BOUND FOR THE PACIFIC THEATER OF OPERATIONS. ASSIGNED TO ADVANCED INDIVIDUAL TRAINING COMPANY NUMBER 1 ENGAGED IN THE OCCUPATION OF JAPAN. HONORABLY DISCHARGED AS A PRIVATE FIRST CLASS ON JANUARY 4, 1947 AT THE SEPARATION CENTER, FORT SHERIDAN, ILLINOIS. EARNED THE GOOD CONDUCT MEDAL, AMERICAN CAMPAIGN MEDAL, EUROPEAN-AFRICAN-MIDDLE EASTERN CAMPAIGN MEDAL, WWII VICTORY MEDAL, AND THE ARM O OCCUPATION MEDAL (JAPAN).
