ENTERED ACTIVE SERVICE AS A DRAFTEE ON JUNE 22, 1945 AT CHICAGO, ILLINOIS. SELECTED FOR THE ARMY AIR FORCES, COMPLETED BASIC TRAINING, AND QUALIFIED IN THE MILITARY OCCUPATIONAL SPECIALTY OF AUTOMOTIVE MECHANIC (014). DEPARTED THE CONTINENTAL U.S. ON NOVEMBER 26, 1945 BOUND FOR THE PACIFIC THEATER OF OPERATIONS. ASSIGNED TO AND SERVED WITH THE 6TH TROOP CARRIER SQUADRON ENGAGED IN THE OCCUPATION OF JAPAN. HONORABLY DISCHARGED AS A CORPORAL ON DECEMBER 20, 1946 AT THE SEPARATION CENTER, FORT SHERIDAN, ILLINOIS. EARNED THE AMERICAN CAMPAIGN MEDAL, ASIATIC-PACIFIC CAMPAIGN MEDAL, WWII VICTORY MEDAL, AND THE ARMY OF OCCUPATION MEDAL (JAPAN).
