ENLISTED IN THE REGULAR ARMY CORPS OF ENGINEERS AND ENTERED ACTIVE SERVICE ON SEPTEMBER 25, 1946 AT CHICAGO, ILLINOIS. COMPLETED BASIC TRAINING, AND QUALIFIED IN THE MILITARY OCCUPATIONAL SPECIALTY OF ARMORER (511). DEPARTED THE CONTINENTAL U.S. ON MAY 9, 1947 BOUND FOR THE PACIFIC THEATER OF OPERATIONS. ASSIGNED TO AND SERVED WITH COMPANY C, 13TH ENGINEER BATTALION, ENGAGED IN THE OCCUPATION OF JAPAN. HONORABLY DISCHARGED AS A PRIVATE ON JUNE 25, 1949 AT FORT LAWTON, WASHINGTON. EARNED THE ASIATIC-PACIFIC CAMPAIGN MEDAL, WWII VICTORY MEDAL, AND THE ARMY OF OCCUPATION MEDAL (JAPAN).
