ENTERED ACTIVE SERVICE AS A DRAFTEE ON JANUARY 18, 1943 AT CHICAGO, ILLINOIS. SELECTED FOR THE COAST ARTILLERY CORPS, COMPLETED BASIC TRAINING, AND QUALIFIED IN THE MILITARY OCCUPATIONAL SPECIALTY OF ANTI-AIRCRAFT ARTILLERY CREWMAN (2501). DEPARTED THE CONTINENTAL U.S. ON NOVEMBER 23, 1943 BOUND FOR THE PACIFIC THEATER OF OPERATIONS. ASSIGNED TO AND SERVED WITH BATTERY A, 497TH ANTI-AIRCRAFT ARTILLERY AUTOMATIC WEAPONS BATTALION, THAT WAS NOT ENGAGED IN DESIGNATED CAMPAIGNS AGAINST THE ENEMY. HONORABLY DISCHARGED AS A PRIVATE FIRST CLASS ON JANUARY 22, 1946 AT THE SEPARATION CENTER, JEFFERSON BARRACKS, MISSOURI. EARNED THE GOOD CONDUCT MEDAL, AMERICAN CAMPAIGN MEDAL, ASIATIC-PACIFIC CAMPAIGN MEDAL, AND THE WWII VICTORY MEDAL.
