WITH 1 YEAR AND 7 DAYS PRIOR SERVICE, ENLISTED IN THE CORPS OF ENGINEERS AND ENTERED ACTIVE SERVICE ON NOVEMBER 9, 1945 AT SAN LOUIS OBISPO, CALIFORNIA. QUALIFIED IN THE MILITARY OCCUPATIONAL SPECIALTY OF CONSTRUCTION FOREMAN (059), WAS ASSIGNED TO AND SERVED WITH THE 554TH ENGINEER PONTOON BRIDGE COMPANY STATESIDE. HONORABLY DISCHARGED AS A PRIVATE ON NOVEMBER 7, 1946 AT THE SEPARATION CENTER, CAMP CAMPBELL, KENTUCKY. EARNED THE GOOD CONDUCT MEDAL, AMERICAN CAMPAIGN MEDAL, AND THE WWII VICTORY MEDAL.
