ENLISTED IN THE FIELD ARTILLERY AND ENTERED ACTIVE SERVICE ON NOVEMBER 9, 1945 AT CHICAGO, ILLINOIS. COMPLETED BASIC TRAINING AND QUALIFIED IN THE MILITARY OCCUPATIONAL SPECIALTY OF MESS SERGEANT (824). DEPARTED THE CONTINENTAL U.S. ON MARCH 14, 1946 BOUND FOR THE PACIFIC THEATER OF OPERATIONS. ASSIGNED TO AND SERVED WITH THE 472ND GLIDER FIELD ARTILLERY BATTALION ENGAGED IN THE OCCUPATION OF JAPAN. HONORABLY DISCHARGED AS A TECHNICIAN FIFTH GRADE ON APRIL 23, 1947 AT THE SEPARATION CENTER, CAMP BEALE, CALIFORNIA. EARNED THE WWII VICTORY MEDAL AND THE ARMY OF OCCUPATION MEDAL (JAPAN).
