ENTERED ACTIVE SERVICE AS A DRAFTEE ON SEPTEMBER 16, 1942 AT CHICAGO, ILLINOIS. SELECTED FOR DUTY WITH THE CORPS OF MILITARY POLICE, COMPLETED BASIC TRAINING, AND QUALIFIED IN THE MILITARY OCCUPATIONAL SPECIALTY OF LIGHT TRUCK DRIVER (MOS 345). DEPARTED THE CONTINENTAL U.S. ON DECEMBER 8, 1942 BOUND FOR OTHER PARTS OF THE AMERICAN THEATER OF OPERATIONS, SERVING ABROAD WITH THE 748TH MILITARY POLICE BATTALION. RETURNED TO THE STATES ON MAY 23, 1945 AND WAS HONORABLY DISCHARGED AS A TECHNICIAN FIFTH GRADE ON OCTOBER 29, 1945 AT THE SEPARATION CENTER, CAMP BEALE, CALIFORNIA. EARNED THE GOOD CONDUCT MEDAL, AMERICAN CAMPAIGN MEDAL, AND THE WWII VICTORY MEDAL.
