SERVED AS A VOLUNTEER IN THE CANTEEN OPERATED DURING WWII IN THE DEPOT OF THE UNION PACIFIC RAILROAD THAT RAN THROUGH NORTH PLATTE, NEBRASKA. THIS CANTEEN RAN FROM CHRISTMAS DAY 1941 UNTIL IT CLOSED ON APRIL 1, 1946, HAVING SERVED SIX MILLION SERVICEMEN REFRESHMENTS DURING THEIR TEN TO TWENTY MINUTE STOP AT THE STATION. SERVED SANDWICHES, COOKIES, COFFEE, MILK, BIRTHDAY CAKES AND OTHER REFRESHMENTS.
