INDUCTED JULY 4, 1942 AND COMMISSIONED A 2ND LIEUTENANT MARCH 1943. PROMOTED TO 1ST LIEUTENANT. NOVEMBER 1943. DEPLOYED TO EUROPE JUNE 1944 AND SERVED IN THE FOLLOWING CAMPAIGNS: SIEGFRIED LINE FOR WHICH HE WAS AWARDED A BRONZE STAR; BATTLE OF THE BULGE FOR WHICH HE RECEIVED AN OAK LEAF CLUSTER AND THE RUHR POCKET AND RHINE CROSSING. HE WAS SEPARATED FROM ACTIVE DUTY IN OCTOBER 1945.
