ENLISTED AND ENTERED ACTIVE SERVICE ON NOVEMBER 24, 1943 AT FORT SHERIDAN, ILLINOIS. COMPLETED BASIC TRAINING, THE ‘RIGGER’ SERVICE SCHOOL, AND QUALIFIED IN THE MILITARY OCCUPATIONAL SPECIALTY OF PETROLEUM STORAGE TECHNICIAN (MOS 485). DEPARTED THE CONTINENTAL U.S. ON MAY 24 1944 BOUND FOR OFF-SHORE PARTS OF THE AMERICAN THEATER OF OPERATIONS. SERVED WITH UNKNOWN UNITS AND RETURNED STATE-SIDE ON FEBRUARY 22, 1945. AT TIME OF HONORABLE DISCHARGE AS A TECHNICIAN FIFTH GRADE ON MAY 4, 1946 AT THE SEPARATION CENTER, FORT SHERIDAN, WAS ASSIGNED TO HEADQUARTERS & SERVICE TROOP, 18TH MECHANIZED CAVALRY RECONNAISSANCE SQUADRON. EARNED THE GOOD CONDUCT MEDAL, AMERICAN CAMPAIGN MEDAL, AND THE WWII VICTORY MEDAL.
