ENTERED ACTIVE SERVICE FROM THE ENLISTED RESERVE CORPS AS A DRAFTEE ON OCTOBER 28, 1942 AT CHICAGO, ILLINOIS. COMPLETED BASIC TRAINING AND QUALIFIED IN THE MILITARY SPECIALTY OF TRUCK DRIVER. AT TIME OF HONORABLE DISCHARGE AS A PRIVATE FIRST CLASS WITH A CERTIFICATE OF DISABILITY ON OCTOBER 8, 1943 AT CAMP ADAIR, OREGON, HE WAS ON UNASSIGNED STATUS AT THE STATION HOSPITAL, SERVICE COMMAND UNIT 1911, SAME STATION. EARNED THE WWII VICTORY MEDAL FOR HIS SERVICE DURING THE PERIOD OF ELIGIBILITY.
