ENLISTED AT CHICAGO, ILLINOIS, ON THE 15TH DAY OF APRIL, 1943, TO SERVE FOR THE DURATION. SERVED AS A RIFLEMAN IN THE PACIFIC AREA FROM 14 DECEMBER 1944-23 MARCH 1946. PARTICIPATED IN ACTION AGAINST THE ENEMY AT OKINAWA, RYUKYU ISLANDS, FROM 1 APRIL 1945-21 JUNE 1945; AND IN THE OCCUPATION OF PREVIOUSLY JAPANESE-HELD PARTS OF CHINA FROM 1 OCTOBER 1945-5 MARCH 1946. HONORABLY DISCHARGED AS A CORPORAL ON APRIL 4, 1946 AT THE MARINE SEPARATION CENTER, GREAT LAKES, ILLINOIS. EARNED THE GOOD CONDUCT MEDAL, AMERICAN CAMPAIGN MEDAL, ASIATIC-PACIFIC CAMPAIGN MEDAL WITH 1 BRONZE BATTLE STAR, AND THE WWII VICTORY MEDAL.
